We've just returned from a holiday in Wales. We were in need of some rest and the beautiful cottage we had was just right. We had a view over sheep filled fields and down to the sea in the distance.
Not much was open being out of season, and very little of what was open was accessible. Therefore we stuck to the three places we knew were good and local and enjoyed the comfort of the cottage. The patio was covered and had comfy furniture, so you could sit outside listening to the rain fall without getting wet! It became my favourite place to sit and crochet.
The photo is of a small stream we know well from years gone by and we were delighted to sit outside the local pub right next to the steam. The sound was amazing, loud and strangely relaxing! Historically it represents so much more for me as the stream is very near the place where God called me to do the work I now do.
In our last update we said that I was due to step down from the EA council as my time was up! I then hinted that something else was about to happen - which I can now tell you. (drum roll!)
After much vetting and voting, I'm delighted to say that I will be serving on Scripture Union's Council from November.
If you've read my 'about me' page, you will know I was trained by Scripture Union over 30 years ago. It feels like full circle for me and a chance to repay all they poured into me so many years ago.
We were about to set off to the Keswick Convention last time we updated. We did three weeks, both of us went down with viruses and for 2 days I had no voice at all - not even a squeak!
Aside from that, it was a great time. The permanent team there are a delight to work alongside, and the volunteers a lovely mix of ages happy to serve the conventioners in any way they can.
It was a busy time for both of us. Many of the suggestions I put in last year's audit had been put into place with many more in the pipeline and on wish lists for the long term future.
We're looking forward to next year already!
With life being busier, and knowing my new role with Scripture Union will take a fair bit of my time, I've had to prayerfully make decisions about other parts of my regular work. So, after 30 plus years of working with and alongside Spring Harvest I have let the planning group know that I will be stepping down and the 2025 event will be my last.
It has been an amazing 30 plus years; firstly as a volunteer, then as Whizz Kids team leader and then as the disability advisor to the planning group (Those last two overlapped by a few years!)
My Easters will look very different after the next event.
There is a replacement in the pipeline, but I will leave that there until it is officially sorted.
Since our last update we've also had lots of meetings, delivered a lot of training sessions, written lots of articles, columns and blogs and even been recorded for a podcast.
Thankyou for your continued prayers and support. We couldn't do what we do without you!
