Paper Chain Prayers: Being Part of God's Family

What the Bible Says:

"So you are no longer outsiders and strangers. You are citizens together with God’s people. You are also members of God’s family."

Ephesians Chapter 2 Verse 19

This could be a Christmas or a New Year activity - either in the home, in a children's group or the whole church family together! (If you use it for the whole church family, remember to get some chains done by those who can't come to the building - so they can also be a part of this.)

But, it could also be done any time of the year if the subject fits (Unity, parts of the body of Christ, praying for each other, etc).

There are three ways to use this activity:

As an individual: Just your name on a chain linked to one that says God. A reminder that as a Christian, you are part of God's family. This comes with a prayer of thankfulness for being in God's family.

To paper chains linked. one says God, the other says me.

As a family group:

The centre ring has 'God' written on it. Each family member has their own chain with their name on it. Each link is attached to the Centre ring as they pray:
Be thankful for family, whatever your family looks like, and the gift of being in God's family.
Pray for each member of the family to get to know God more.

(This can be adapted for Children's groups)

As a Church (All age, special services etc):

The link with 'God' written on it is the first link and others add to the chain. You can have as many chains coming from the God link as you want.

As a church family recognise that we are part of God's family and pray about that.

You could take it further and ask people to pray for the person who wrote the previous link. (If you're the first name next to 'God' - thank Him for who He is!)

Or....you could use these as a springboard to create what works in your setting. As long as it works in your setting and God is recognised for who He is and his place in our families - be that at home or at church.
