Emotions: Worry

Praying About Our Worries using Bubble Wrap.

You Will Need:

Some bubble wrap! (Grown ups – it’s worth saving any wrap put in parcels and deliveries. It’s also possible to buy small amounts at a reasonable price from shops like Wilko’s and Poundland)

You can also do this activity with popper toys, like the ones Theo is holding in the photo, if you have them.

What the Bible says:

Turn all your worries over to Him [God].

He cares about you.

From 1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7

Ponder:
People do all sorts of things that will help them to take their mind off worrying:

  • Walk or run.
  • Go for a bike ride.
  • A hobby.
  • Talk to someone.

There are some who will shout and stomp about because they are so worried they don’t know what else to do.

Lots of people talk to God about what is making them worried or anxious.

What do you do when you’re worried?
Have a chat with your grownups about that.

Why are we using Bubble wrap for this prayer?

Some people like to pop the bubbles in bubble wrap because of how it feels when they pop them. It's relaxing and it helps them to calm down.

Ponder some more:

What worry would you like to talk

to God about as you use the bubble wrap?

Pray:

Ask a grownup to read the Bible verse at the top of the page.

Listen to it as though it is a prayer.

It is what God promised, and God keeps His promises!

As you pop the bubble wrap, tell God about what is making you worried or anxious.
Ask Him to help you.

Pray for others who are worried – either people you know, or for others you don’t know.

This could include “Please help others who are worried about school”.

Read This!

There is nothing wrong about being worried. But if you are so worried it is making you feel ill, please talk to a grown up you trust.

They may need to talk to another adult to find the help you need – this is a good thing!

If you don’t have anyone to talk to, think about ringing child line on 0800 1111.

They are people you can trust.
