Praise Arrow

The word praise written with letters that look like Gold

Telling God how much you love Him and why.

From the Bible:

Every day I will praise you.
I will praise your name for ever

and ever.
Lord, you are great.
You are really worthy of praise.
No one can completely understand how great you are.

Psalm 145 Verses 2-3

A cartoon of Albert the Chimpanzee. He is standing on tiptoe with his arms stretched up high.
Next to him is an upward pointing arrow with words around it.
The words are great, holy, everywhere, loving, big and kind.

Ponder:

When you think about God, what makes you go ‘Wow, 'He's Amazing!'?

Is it something He has made or something He's done?

A simple but colourful stick man style cartoon. There is a boy with a giraffe and three butterflies.

Or maybe You're amazed God can hear everyone’s prayers at the same time, in different languages – and not get them mixed up!

That amazes us too!

Are there a 'wow' words that you could use to describe God?

There are lots of words you could use, like 'Big', 'powerful' or 'very kind'.

Maybe you want to make up a word that you think describes God. Albert thought up the word ‘humunginormous’! He doesn't mind if you want to use that one.

My 'wow' is the fact God made so many types of butterflies, so words were "amazing creator!"

Pray:

This could be a loud shouting prayer, but if someone doesn’t like noisy things you could make it a whisper prayer.

If someone finds speaking difficult; make up actions for the chosen words instead. If you know Makaton or BSL, it would be even better to use those!

You could even use a phone to say it for you.

Do what works for you!

Remember one or two of the words you pondered and get ready to use the way you want to say it - shouting, whispering, signing or through your phone.

Ask someone to start the prayer by saying “Dear God, you are….”

Then everyone can say their word in the way that was chosen - all at the same time!

I whispered "Amazing creator"

Albert used his phone to say “Humunginormous”.

At the end, say amen. (It doesn’t mean “The End”, it means you agree with everyone's prayers.)

It might sound like a big mushy muddle of words, but remember - God can sort it out and understand!
